Kathy ElarteKathy Elarte has studied the harp for many years and considers it her special passion. Although she no longer performs publicly, she has touched on every aspect of this instrument; from teaching, to attending numerous harp conventions, workshops and camps across the globe. These include, but are not limited to, the EuroHarp Symposium, the World Harp Congress, the American Harp Society Conferences, IFHSC and Somerset. Kathy attends Carleton University’s Music Program and is a harp performance major. She is currently completing her Bachelor of Music Degree. She has completed the required courses of the Certified Music Practitioner in The MHTP Program but due to time restraints, has not been able to complete her internship, nor play Bedside Harps.
Kathy holds a B.A. (Honours) in East Asian Studies from McGill University, and an M.A. in International Development from the University of Ottawa. Kathy works closely with many harp builders worldwide, and she has completed courses in harp regulation from both independent technicians and at Salvi Harps in Italy.
Kathy works jointly with her most staunch supporter, her husband Peter Ezard, who handles the financial and the administrative aspects associated with running a national and international business. He is also the chief harp hauler and patron of the arts. Peter accompanies Kathy to most conferences.
